Instructions for Cryotherapy
This is a method of treatment causing controlled destruction of viable tissue by freezing with the help of an inert gas Liquid nitrogen ( LN2). It acts by formation of ice inside and outside the cell membranes and vascular changes within the lesions resulting in cryonecrosis of the lesion even melanocytes which are sensitive to temperature changes get destroyed with a short freeze cycle. Of recently this technique is widely used and accepted all over the world.
It has the following unique features:-
- Easy and simple procedure.
- No local anaesthesia is required for a short freeze.
- Non invasive procedure.
- No bleeding and minimum after care required.
- If lesions are multiple all of them can be treated.
- Cosmetic results are laudable.
- Invaluable tool in HIV era.
- Minimal side effects.
